The Centro para Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), an Organism of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, is a Public Research Agency for excellence in energy and environment, as well as in many vanguard technologies and in various areas of fundamental research.

It was founded in 1951 with the denomination of Junta de Energía Nuclear (JEN), and renamed CIEMAT in 1986.
