Debye length

A plasma consisting of freely moving positively and negatively charged particles has a natural tendency to shield net charges (or cancel DC electric fields). The effective shielding length is the Debye length, and can be derived from a simple two fluid model of the plasma. ^[1] ^[2]

\lambda _{D}=\left({\frac {\varepsilon _{0}T_{e}}{e^{2}n_{0}}}\right)^{1/2}

where T_e is given in energy units.
