The IEEE Symposium on Fusion Engineering (SOFE) is a biennial event that is organized and sponsored by the Fusion Technology Standing Committee of the IEEE NPSS. SOFE is an international conference and is open to all engineering, physics and material science disciplines involved in the pursuit of both magnetic and inertial confinement fusion.

Initially, the conference was called 'Symposium on Engineering Problems of Controlled Thermonuclear Research' - up to and including the 19th symposium (2001).
