Centrifugal Z-pinch

The idea that because of the thermal inertia of metals and alloys in pulsed thermonuclear processes can withstand temperatures without breaking expressed and proved Intermediary Nobel laureate, Academician PL Kapitsa when working on obtaining superstrong pulsed magnetic fields. Subsequently the principle was the basis for the work of thermonuclear devices - Z-pinches. It was assumed by passing a strong pulsed electric current between the electrodes plasmoid cylindrical shape acquire thermonuclear temperatures and will form the basis of a thermonuclear reactor. In fact, such a Z-pinch fusion temperatures reached, but his self-compression of the plasma cylinder characterized by instabilities, and the time did not allow to turn nuclear fusion reaction is energetically favorable. Characteristically, when in a tokamak plasma is not in contact with the walls of the discharge chamber, the linear Z-pinch with its cylindrical configuration of the plasma takes place contact the ends of the plasma cylinder with electrodes - an anode and cathode. Subsequently, the cylindrical configuration of the plasma was replaced with a non-cylindrical - a converging funnel centered on the anode and the peripheral end of the cathode. Installation was called - plasma focus. During the descent the current-plasma funnel occurs accumulation of plasma and secondary education plasmoid, not relating to electrodes. Such a plasmoid - plasma focus - has a record of temperature and density, but a short lifetime. Besides the size and focus of the plasma generated power relative to its currents created plasma funnel does not exceed a few percent.

It is proposed to change the structural configuration of the discharge chamber noncylindrical Z-pinch, so that the plasma focus turned in a rotating plasma ring with a diameter comparable to the maximum size setting. Due to the closed trajectories of particles in the plasma (in rotation) is expected to increase the retention time of the accumulation of plasma clot. Geometric analysis of the new scheme speaks on the growth of skumulirovannoy plasma - plasma ring - toroid compared to the classical plasma focus. It should be noted that centrifugal Z-pinch has acquired the properties of plasma self-cleaning. The fact is that any Z-pinch, by definition, is a high-current electrode discharge and therein plasma is contaminated by the ions of anode material, which are knocked out by electrons from cathode. In “classic” plasma focus they are copper ions.This dramatically reduces the temperature of plasma due to increase of inhibitory (X-ray) radiation of electrons when they collide with copper ions. Thus, by the way, fusion reactions involving lithium, as in hydrogen bombs, currently are not considered. The considered proposed scheme of Z-pinch due to centrifugal forces will operate the same as plasma pulse centrifuge. The effect of discarding of heavy ions of metal impurities on plasma periphery to cathode surface to clean deuterium plasma will be observed.

All these factors can lead to an increase in the efficiency of the proposed merger of the object.
